Taylor Swift’s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’

24 Aug

Labelled as the “nicest” girl in the music industry by England’s Ed Sheeran, folk-pop princess Taylor Swift is getting ready to make a comeback with her fourth studio album ‘Red‘. With hints of a Sheeran duet on its way, performances at this year’s MTV VMAs and her newest single, ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together‘, there are hopes that Swift will be able to achieve the same success that was ‘Love Song‘.  ‘Love Song‘ is the only single that has managed to peak high in the UK Singles’ Charts – placing at number two – but the latest cut is expected to follow into the top 10 this weekend.

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together‘ is quite a mouthful, but  refreshingly straight to the point. The song is set to dominate the teen-pop scene with it’s playground vibe. Talks of indecisive boyfriends and interfering friends will appeal to a lot of young girls who will argue that they ‘can relate’. Musically, Swift takes up her trade-mark acoustic guitar that lifts the country-feel along with some toe-tapping beats above the odd distorted synths. The overall soundscape is animated with an emotion as Swift practically shouts through the chorus. Despite the teenage-angst, the determination that carries Swift’s vocals proves effective as the chorus becomes anthemic; it will explode during live shows.

Promoting the ‘strong woman’,  the single is already climbing the live iTunes Download Charts into the top 5. It is a little sugary for some, but the youthfulness is bound to excite the airwaves.

I love this song so much, and I feel as though I shouldn’t as I’m not a preteen! So glad the UK radio stations are paying attention to this one too, love bopping along to it in my car haha.
