Owl City’s ‘Good Time’ (Ft. Carly Rae Jepsen)

27 Jun

Since his chart success with ‘Fireflies‘ nearly two years ago, Adam Young, has struggled to make a chart-topping return. With his fourth studio album, ‘The Midsummer Station‘, set for an August release Young is hoping that with the help of pop-princess, Carly Rae Jepsen, he can repeat his ‘Fireflies‘ victory. ‘Good Time‘ is the second cut from the forthcoming album, following ‘Shooting Star‘. The first single was nothing out of the ordinary and failed to gain a great deal of attention, but this Jepsen feature is bound to get Owl City back in the Top 20, if not higher.

The single is lifted by a bright and youthful spirit as Young and Jepsen sing about the innocent joys of Summer adventures.  A catchy chorus, a pristine bridge-line and care-free verses are animated by simple lyrics about sleeping in your clothes and dropping mobiles into the pool. With a soundscape built up by playful keyboard melodies, scratchy synths and an infectious beat it carries a anthemic personality that will please any party-goer. Acting as a follow-up to Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe‘, it embodies a young-at-heart philosophy coated with a delightful layer of sugar.

With our British Summer showing no signs of allowing the sun to shine, ‘Good Time‘ is bound to brighten up the day and create an uplifting atmosphere to get you into the Summer spirit. Irresistibly sweet and annoyingly catchy, ‘Good Time‘ has the potential to be this Summer’s anthem.
